My wedding party and I are putting the flower center pieces together to save money and we put together the favors (not done yet we still have to put the tags on them) my sis also designed all the stationary and we are printing them ourselves and we are also decorating the hall ourselves.
We are doing lots of DIY projects to save money.

Wedding Hairstyles

38 days till I get married!!! I can't believe how fast time flies. So much to do and my maid of honor is off on a mountain somewhere!! Joking.. She is defiantly getting some well deserved vacation time, hopefully she will come back relaxed and ready to plan again.
With the wedding coming up fast I am trying to decide how I want to wear my hair and I have narrowed it down to three different styles but I keep changing my mind between them.

Take a look at what I have picked.

I'm not even sure if my hair would turn out as nice as these because my hair is defiantly not as long and not as thick. I never wear my hair up so I am kind of leaning toward wearing it down and curly.

What style do you like?

Meeting Lynn Spence

Happy Friday!!

Today my class got the opportunity to meet and listen to Lynn Spence talk about her life, success, and advice about pursuing your career of interest in fashion and/or design. Lynn Spence is a style expert that appears on Citytv's Cityline, Around the House and Fashion Friday. It was a great experience and very informative to listen to her speak she is very energetic, outgoing, personable and funny.

My Classmates and I with Lynn Spence ( I am in the fuschia)

I will share with you some of the tips Lynn Spence gave us on how to be successful in your career.
  • EDUCATE YOURSELF about designers, trends and styles.
  • Read magazines it is the best way to stay current and learn new things.
  • Learn the language/ terminology of design so you can speak knowledgeably.
  • RESEARCH before meeting with a client or employer so you know what you are talking about.
  • Be trained in everything as much as possible.
  • Know who you are.
  • Stand your ground
  • The things that are the hardest for you to do, what you are scared of is what you should pursue. You will learn the most from it and get inspired.
  • Watch for trends everywhere you go.
  • Be confident, interesting, calm and different.
  • Never lower yourself to someone else's behaviour.
  • Be a sponge.
  • Stay ahead of trends.
  • confidence comes with knowledge.
Lynn told us about some of her rules and expectations for us to follow when we first start out in our careers. These are some examples of what she looks for in her employees.
  • Be prompt- 5 minutes early
  • Non smoker- she doesn't like people going out every hour to take a smoke break, you are there to work.
  • Be neat and tidy, dress for success.
  • Stay off your cell phone during work hours.
  • Self -motivation is important.
  • ASK if you don't know something.
  • Bring a notebook and write everything down.
  • Be a team member.
  • Start out being quite slowly bring out your voice and opinions.
  • Don't be personal, stay neutral in conversation unless asked, let the employer get to know you.
  • Be polite, outgoing, happy and smile.
  • Unless you are REALLY ill don't miss work, pick and choose what days are important to be at work so if it is an important day and you are ill don't miss it.
  • Put in effort.
  • Be ready to give your opinion when asked.
  • If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything.
  • Know when to speak.
Lynn also gave us some great advice on what we should dress like if we want to be successful. She told us that none of the clothes have to be expensive, it all about how you put it together.
  • Have a uniform that can be changed up.
  • Have a few decent cardigans.
  • Buy a few stripped shirts.
  • Buy a few plain white shirts.
  • One really good blazer.
  • A few pairs of dark wash jeans with NO holes.
  • Scarves to top off the look. Pattern is always good.
  • One long Trench coat.
  • lipstick
  • Clean hair.
  • Little makeup.
  • Make sure your shoes are polished.

Kitchen Design for Mr. Curtis Stone

I though I would share with you one of my projects that I had to do last semester for my interior decorating class. My teacher gave the class a floor plan from one of her clients and she turned it in to a fun project by having us draw a name of a famous celebrity... then we had to research the celeb and design the kitchen as if they were our client. I picked Curtis Stone who is a famous chef from TLC's Take Home Chef.

The first picture is the floor plan of the previous kitchen layout. We had to work with in the previous kitchen area and keep the existing dark hardwood flooring.

Wedding Details

There are so many little details about weddings its so hard to keep track of what needs to be done and all those little details you don't even think of until in conversation with someone who has had a wedding... and you say to yourself  "I didn't even think of that" another item added to the long list.

Today I final ordered my favors, I am ordering them from Brittles 'n More in St. Jacobs. I saw their advertisement in a wedding booklet I got from a wedding show... so I went and visited the store in the summer.

They have so many good treats to eat, probably not a good place to go when you are trying to watch your weight. The favors that I picked out are rock candies, I thought that would be such a cute favor instead of the classic candle or chocolates.

Check them out!! I ordered the white and red colours, they are so good!!

Colour Inspiration

I think these different colour schemes look great together...they are very bold!!

The room with the black wall is gorgeous! I don't think I would have the guts to paint any of my rooms black like that. All the natural light and the white ceiling help to balance it so its not to dark and heavy. My house defiantly doesn't have enough natural light to do dark colours.
