Craftsman Style

One of my  favourite styles of homes is the Craftsman style. I love the chunkiness of the style, with a grand entrance using large posts and columns with stairs leading up to a large covered porch. The deep overhanging eves, the window style and the exposed rafters and bracket work on the houses are also a few of my favourite elements of the Craftsman style. This style of house is very popular and all the elements can be seen in different houses around the city. It is the inspiration behind the exterior of my capstone house (here and here), I like the style plus it suited the style of my "clients".

Capstone house, Craftsman inspired. (its hard to see the little details in this photo)

Here are some inspirational photo's I used to create the Craftsman style.

Family, Rest & Relaxation!

We are off to my grandparents cottage this weekend for some family time! There will be lots of relaxing, eating, hopefully some sunny beach time and of course C's favorite thing of all fishing!
Here are some pictures from last year (my little guy was two years old)

Pike...It's almost as big as J! (C was very happy after this)

Going to catch frogs (not my kinda thing)

Do you have any plans for this long weekend? Going to any beaches? Or are you just staying at home?

Motivation... Zero!!

On Friday I was pretty excited, I was hoping to complete the basement renovations but NO!! I failed I could not motivate C enough to finish the job : (. We didn't finish the bathroom but if you remember the photo I showed you on Friday (here), it is of laminate flooring we bought on sale at The Home Depot for the basement floor. I was sick of how dirty and cold the floor was down there and I thought if we put laminate down it will warm it up and help it to look cleaner, which it did! (my little guy now says "wow new flooring, now I don't have to wear shoes and socks down there").

Here is a couple of before pictures if you want to see the rest view (here)
Before (with out so much clutter. Everything is moved so we could paint)

Before Flooring After Painting

We aren't totally done yet we still need to add trim, take out the rest of the carpet on the stairs and almost everything down here we are getting rid of (like I said the basement is for junk and unwanted stuff). If you look back up to the first two photos you can see turtles in a dirty @$$ tank...Well look in photo 3.. See that? Its an empty tank!! C FINALLY decided to get rid of them (I have been waiting for this day!) we have had them for 5 years and it is a pain (not for me so much more him) to clean the tank. Anyway now I have two tanks for sale anyone interested??

Awhile back I had mentioned that there was a guy interested in buying a house in our complex (read about it here) Well he came to view it and we haven't heard anything from him unfortunately. Because of this C and I have really got the moving bug and this is why we are doing some fixing up to the house. I would love to have it up for sale by the end of July but we will see (how well I can motivate C).
I will show you all the before and after pictures as we do everything!

A Night In Toronto

On Saturday afternoon Britt and I headed to Toronto for the Canadian Design Blogger Meet-up at Brassaii Restaurant and Lounge. I had such a great time! It was my first time attending a meet-up since I only started recently blogging. It was great to meet everyone I have been following and get to know some new lovely ladies and add some more blogs to my reader.

Tommy Smythe was there to chat with us, he is so funny! I even got a chance to get my photo taken with him!!

The night was wonderful! there was great food, drinks and prizes! (I didn't win but Britt did!). The sponsors for the night were Ikea Canada, Delta, and CIL. House & Home, Style at Home, Kravet Canada, Crate & Barrel and Rowenta also contributed to the event! Big thanks to Vie from Verdigris Vie and Daniella from Dress, Design & Decor for making this event possible it was a blast!!

I know it has been two weeks since mine and the little guys birthday party but I finally got the pictures from my sis to share with you.

Super hero birthday shirt

Fruit Punch
I made this fruit punch, it was my first time making one and I must say it was pretty good!! (especially with some Jamaican rum I brought back from Jamaica with me) I got the recipe on-line I just picked the easiest one, I also altered it a bit. Do you have any great fruit punch recipes?

1 can of frozen orange juice
1 can of frozen lemonade
1 bottle of ginger ale
1 bottle of cream soda
1 can of pineapple juice
and fresh or frozen fruit

Cupcakes Britt and I made. We found florescent food colouring so the colours turned out great! Very vibrant!

My cake made by my mother-in-law.

Happy Birthday my little man!!

The jumpy thing Nana and Papa bought him for his birthday.
